Eugene M. Roles was born February 6, 1928 in Omro Township to parents Matt and Luella (Dahl) Roles. On October 26, 1949 he married Bernice Eischens at St. Leo, Minnesota. To this union eight children were born: Lawrence, Marilyn, Alice, Lambert, Donna, John, Annette, and Rosemary. Gene and Bernice farmed all their lives until they moved to Marshall in June of 1995. He was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church, a Catholic Aid, and a member of the Farmers Union. He loved fishing, playing cards, going to Softball games, and wrestling meets. He especially loved visiting with his grandchildren. Eugene passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 5, 1995 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 30 days. He is survived by his wife, Bernice and children: Lawrence (Rita) of Dodge Center; Marilyn (Roger) Bekaert of Blue Earth; Alice (Tom) VanOverbeke of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Lambert of Marshall; Donna (Terry) Schreiber of Taunton; John (Pam) of Minneota; Annette of Marshall; and Rosemary (Rick) Peterson of Marshall. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and brother Edward Roles and sisters: Janet (Lawrence) Buysse, Irene (Tony) Kopka, Leona Eischens, and Doris (Casmir) Stachowski. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
