Ethel Irene (Falkum) Willander October 4, 1917 ~ November 14, 2013 Ethel Irene Falkum was born on October 4, 1917, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Thomas and Florence (Diggins) Falkum. She attended Hillside Country School District #23. She helped out with numerous farming chores and other household duties throughout her childhood and also did some tutoring with other neighboring children in later years. Ethel's youthful aspirations were to enter the teaching or nursing fields. On February 7, 1941, she was married to Jesse Willander of Clarkfield. They were married at the Clarkfield Gospel Tabernacle Church by Rev. Helen Jepsen. To this union two children were born: Jeannine and Eloit. Ethel worked as a housewife and also worked numerous years at the Clarkfield Care Center in the Housekeeping Department. She was a lifelong member at the Clarkfield Assembly of God Church and was involved with the foreign missions as treasurer and also in the women's ministries at the Church. She loved reading, doing embroidery work and stamp collecting. She also loved to bake and cook. Ethel passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 10 days. She is survived by her son, Eloit and his wife Barb of Hopkins, Minnesota, son-in-law Wayne Aeikens of Sycamore, Illinois; and grandchildren: Aaron Willander of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Amalinda Willander of Hopkins, Minnesota, Lynnette (Jeff) Solomon of Barrington, Ilinois, Ronald Aeikens (Jan) of Mesa, Arizona, Diane (Victor) Tyree of Belvidere, Illinois; and great grandchildren: Brittany, Celeste and Jesse. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Willander; daughter, Jeannine Aeikens; brothers: Melvin and Raymond Falkum; and sisters: Gladys McLean and Marjorie Kvistad.
