Ethel Lindskoog was born on May 24, 1897, in Virginia, Minnesota, the daughter of Leon and Margaret (Roussou) Villemure. Her grandparents came to the United States from Paris, France. Ethel was born of full French descent and was baptized in the Catholic faith. Her Mother, at the age of 34, died as the result of a stroke leaving behind Ethel, at the age of three, along with her two brothers and her 13 year old sister. At the age of 16, Ethel left the Catholic Church, as she was working as a maid for a Lutheran family and had been attending church with them. Ethel was united in marriage to Richard Adolph Lindskoog in 1919. They lived for 44 years in Willmar, Minnesota, 38 of those years in the same neighborhood. After the death of her husband, in 1969, Ethel moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, to be near her daughter, Jean Johnson, who was in poor health. Ethel passed away at her residence, in the Valhalla Apartments of Clarkfield on Thursday, October 11, 1990, at the age of 93. Surviving Ethel are six Grandchildren, David Johnson of Atwater, Minnesota, Dennis Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bruce Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, John Olson of Champlin, Minnesota, Sharolyn Olson of Sacramento, California and Terry Olson of Maple Lake; one son-in-law, John P. Olson of Willmar and several Great Grandchildren, Neices and Nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Richard in childhood; two daughters, Mrs. John (Mayme) Olson and Mrs. Otto (Jean) Johnson; two brothers, Elmer and Ray; and one sister, Agnes.
