Esther Caroline Steinke, the daughter of Otto and Alvina (Koepp) Steinke was born in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on September 27, 1906. On October 21, 1906, she was received into God's Kingdom of Grace by holy baptism by Rev. E.G. Fritz of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was confirmed on March 20, 1920, by Rev. Bernhardt Luttman, vacancy pastor from Zion. She spent most of her life assisting at home and caring for her folks. On May 29, 1971, she passed away at the Dawson Nursing Home, Dawson, Minnesota, having lived to an age of 64 years. She had been in failing health the past two years. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Erna. Among those who mourn her death are two brothers: Arnold, at the home farm, and Gerhard, at Lake Lillian, Minnesota; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
