Esther Edith Velde, daughter of Martin and Bertha (Soriede) Idland, was born at Clarkfield on February 7, 1904. She was baptized on March 13, 1904, and confirmed on June 23, 1918, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Esther was united in marriage to Eric O. Rindal on November 28, 1923, in Clarkfield. They moved to Dawson where they engaged in farming until 1934, when they returned to the Idland family farm south of Clarkfield with their son Donald. Eric passed away in 1942 and Esther continued to live on the farm with her sons Donald and Loren. Esther and Kenneth Velde were married on December 3, 1943. They resided on the farm until 1950 when they built a home in Clarkfield. They enjoyed many years of traveling, highlighted by three trips to Norway which had special meaning to her. In 1968 they established a winter home in Mesa, Arizona, which they greatly enjoyed and where they had many friends. Esther had many and varied interests. She had been a very active Church worker, Ladies Aid, Sunday School, Hospital Auxiliary, 4-H and gardening. A special joy for her was her rose garden. In later years she enjoyed many hours of art and crafts work and painting. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Kenneth; sons: Donald Rindal of Clarkfield and Loren Rindal of San Diego, California; step-children: John Velde of Clarkfield and Betty Rosen of Wayzata; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister Martha Gullickson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Eric Rindal; by her parents Martin and Bertha Idland; brothers John Idland, the 1st and John Idland the 2nd; and sisters: Ida Idland and Mabel Idland. Esther will be remembered for her warmth, her willingness to share and her deep faith in her Lord. Blessed be her memory! IN MEMORY OF MRS.
