Esther Carlson was born November 4, 1901, at Worthington, Minnesota, to Alfred and Anna (Sanberg) Bergstrand. After her mother's death in 1920, Esther brought up seven younger children. She spent some time in northern Minnesota and Canada in missionary work with Rev. and Mrs. A.O. Lundeen, teaching and helping in any way possible. In 1958 she married Rueben T. Carlson and moved to Arthur, Iowa, where she lived until her husband's sudden death in 1968. She moved to Kerkhoven, until health made it necessary for her to come to the Clarkfield Care Center in 1974. She is survived by her sisters: Rebecca (Mrs. Vincent Tellgren) of Mora, Mrs. Lillian Storgaard and Mrs. Victoria Rodi of Minneapolis; brother Stanley Bergstrand of Ventura, California; and sister Hazel Johnson of Clarkfield; one uncle; 19 nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death are her husband Reuben T. Carlson; her parents; three infant brothers; three sisters: Lydia (Mrs. Clifford Gustafson), Amy and Ruth Bergstrand. IN MEMORY OF MRS. REUBEN T.
