Estella Olivia Gunlogson was born on December 21, 1903, to C.F. and Gudrun (Paulson) Edwards in Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Westerheim Icelandic Lutheran Church. She was graduated from Minneota High School, Minneota, Minnesota, and Mankato Teachers College. She taught school for several terms in local country schools, in Ennis, Montana and in Granite Falls, Minnesota. On June 17, 1931, she was united in marriage with John Gunlogson. They had four children; John E., Richard, Isabel, and Michael. They farmed in Swede Prairie Township until their retirement, then continued to enjoy living on their farmstead until 1995.
