Obituary

Ernestine Esther Daun Coubal was born August 11, 1922, in International Falls, Minnesota, to Edward and Asta (Oliverson) Daun. She was baptized on September 17, 1922, at the St. Francis Catholic Church at Brainerd, Minnesota. At the age of seven, she lost her mother and spent her remaining childhood days with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Daun. She attended school at Morton, Minnesota, and was confirmed at the Catholic Church in Morton. At the age of fifteen, she went to stay with her dad and new mother (Esther Discher Daun) at Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She did domestic work at Redwood Falls and it was there she met and married Joseph Coubal on January 2, 1940. This union was blessed with nine children. Joe and Ernie, as she was called by her friends, lived in Redwood Falls until August, 1952, when they moved to Hazel Run, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church at Clarkfield belonging to the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Hazel Run Legion Auxiliary and TOPS Club at Hanley Falls. She was an Avon representative selling in Hanley Falls, Sandnes and Friendship townships for about 18 months. She met many friends at this work, which she greatly enjoyed, report her family, just as she always had her home open to all. She had many hobbies and especially enjoyed crocheting for others. In January, 1970, she discovered she had cancer and on May 19, 1970, she departed from this life as a result of this illness, at the age of 47 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia, who died in infancy; her parents, Edward and Austa Daun; and twin brother and sister, who died in infancy. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Joseph, and chidren: Barbara (Mrs. Harold Larson), Mary Jo (Mrs. Glen Haugerud) Geraldine (Mrs. Kenneth Leenerts), Louis, Michael, Bonnie Kay, Debbie Lee and Joey; grandchildren: Brenda and Daniel Larson, Glenda and Cindy Haugerud, Kathy, Dean, Jimmy and Kari Leenerts; a sister Gloria (Mrs. Floyd Jerzak) and a brother, Sgt 1/C Roger E. Daun; beside a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
