Ernest Olson was born August 13, 1876, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Bengt and Pernella (Swenson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, being confirmed December 26, 1892. He spent several years farming in North Dakota, then returned to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he has been farming until two years ago when his health began to fail. During these years he has been hospitalized several times. During the many days of illness, Ernest never complained but remained cheerful. He passed away December 6, 1955, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 79 years, three months and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Olaf and Henry, and one sister, Christina. He is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Anna Rodness, Mrs. Reka Roedl, Emma and Elizabeth Olson of Clarkfield and Mrs. Robert Devereaux of Wadena, Minnesota. Also eight nieces and nephews survive. He will be sadly missed by his relatives and friends. Blessed be his memory.
