Ernest (Bud) Julian Jorgens (January 13, 1924~October 31, 2011) Ernest (Bud) Julian Jorgens was born on January 13, 1924, in Arnegard, North Dakota, to Joseph and Martha (Larson) Jorgens. He was baptized on February 7, 1924, and was confirmed on October 23, 1938, at St. Petri Lutheran Church. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1941. He joined the United States Navy in June of 1945 and was stationed in the Pacific on the USS Cleveland. Ernest was honorably discharged on July 28, 1946. On February 12, 1949, he married the love of his life, Berdetta Gottsch, in Montevideo. To this marriage two sons were born, Joey and Jeffrey. They made their home on a farm Northeast of Boyd. Ernest was a carpenter and farmer. He also enjoyed dancing, fishing, and woodworking. His greatest joys came from watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernest passed away at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson on Monday, October 31, 2011, at the age of 87. Ernest is survived by his son, Jeff (Lorna) Jorgens of Euclid, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Linda Jorgens, of Scranton, North Dakota; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Royce Shoemaker) Hager of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Eric (Billie) Jorgens of Scranton, North Dakota, Jill (Justin) Anderson of Scranton, North Dakota, Jason (Sara) Jorgens of Boyd, Renae (Travis) Gebhart of Meadow, South Dakota, Brian Jorgens of Boyd, Minnesota; and 11 great grandchildren: Colin, Rachel, Hailey, Shannon, Joshwa, Katelyn, Elizabeth, Addison, William, Kyle and Ryder. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Berdetta, son Joey, his parents and three sisters. In Loving Memory of Ernest J.
