Ernest Fenske, 97, of Clarkfield, died Monday, April 13, 1998 at the Clarkfield Care Center. His funeral was held Thursday, April 16 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township with Pastor Bruce Mueller officiating. Organist was Karen Mamer. Casketbearers were his grandsons, Marcus, Daniel, Paul, Joel and Andrew Fenske; Bradley and Ronald Jessen and Dale Kurtzbein. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ernest Fenske was born in Omro Township on Aug. 19, 1900 to Ludwig and Bertha (Wiegers) Fenske. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro where he was a life-long member and where he attended Lutheran grade school. On June 12, 1930 he married Cecelia Timm. During the depression era, Ernest worked with the CCC buying hay and cattle for the government. His entire life revolved around the farming industry. Ernest lived at the Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield until two months ago when he moved to the Clarkfield Care Center. He is survived by three children: Delmore (Bethal), Mary Lou (Duaine) Kurtzbein, and James (Janet), a son-in-law Veryl Jessen, and 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three sisters: Lenora Geistfeld, Selma Wiegers, and Gwen (Elmer) Geistfeld.
