IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Erling Gilford
Dotseth
September 13, 1929 – May 10, 2025
Erling Dotseth was born on September 13, 1929, at his grandparents' home in Normania Township to Raymond and Gladys (Isaacs) Dotseth. He was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Erling graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1947. He married Patricia Feist on October 14, 1950, and the couple had six children: Sheryl, David, Ron, Lorie, Pam, and Lisa. Erling farmed briefly and held various jobs before retiring from Western Co-op Transportation. He worked in construction for several years after retirement. Erling married Joanne Grinager on October 29, 1988. They spent time at their cabin in Big Stone, SD and escaped to Apache Junction, Arizona during the winter. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Also important to him was the great pride he took in spending time with his family and friends. Erling passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at CCM Health in Montevideo, MN with his family by his side. The family would like to extend special thanks to the outstanding staff at Prairie Park Place, Clara City Care Center and CCM Health - Montevideo. He is survived by children: Sheryl Andler, Ronald (Lynnette) Dotseth, Lorie (Gary) Kidrowski, Pam (Jeff) Zurn, and Lisa Dotseth; daughter-in-law, Debbie Munson; step-children: Sue (Larry) Jans, Ann (Mike) Thompson, Lee Grinager, and Gay Grinager; step-son-in-law, Ron Doty; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Junice Dotseth; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special granddog, Zoey. He would tell you that she once saved his life. He is preceded in death by wife, Joanne; son, David Dotseth; son-in-law, Ed Andler; step-daughter, Jill Doty; step-daughter-in-law, Kristin Grinager; infant grandson, Joshua; infant great-granddaughter, Eva; sisters Jean Sauer and Shirley Alness, and his parents. A time of fellowship with the family will be held on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, from 4:00-5:30 PM at the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, with a prayer service beginning at 5:15 PM. Erling will take his last ride in a special car with his son, David, and they will be laid to rest together in the Spring Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clarkfield. In lieu of monetary gifts and flowers, please give to a charity of your choice in his memory.
