Erhardt Edmund Koepp was born January 26, 1913, at his parents home in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was the oldest son of Herman and Pauline (Kesting) Koepp. He was baptized February 23, 1913, at Zion Lutheran Church of Omro Township and confirmed May 1, 1927, at Zion. He attended District #44 through the 8th grade and Boyd High School, Boyd, Minnesota, for one year. Erhardt married Lydia Leppke on December 8, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. Three children were born to them: Virgil, Dennis, and Arlen. Erhardt and Lydia farmed their entire married life. Even after retirement, he still loved being involved with the farm, often just sitting at the end of the field and watching. Erhardt loved the outdoors. He would help Lydia with the gardening and enjoyed spending much time in his shop. The two of them would go to auctions and household sales. He loved getting together with family and friends and attending church activities. He was a real piece of history for his church. Erhardt was a member of Zion his entire life, serving as Elder, Trustee, and Sexton of the Cemetery for many years. Erhardt passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at Sioux Valley Canby Campus Hospital, Canby, Minnesota, following a lengthy stay of over two months. He reached the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 25 days. He is survived by his wife Lydia, of 62 years, and his sons: Dennis (and Sheila) Koepp of Duluth, Minnesota, and Arlen (and Julie) Koepp of Boyd and daughter-in-law Mary (Koepp) Hoffman of Danube, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Megan, Rob and Scott Koepp; brother Herbert of Clarkfield, Minnesota; brothers-in-law Ed and Victor Leppke of Minneota, Minnesota; sister-in-law Elna Leppke of Montevideo, Minnesota, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Virgil in 1994; grandson Timothy Jon Koepp in 1994; brothers-in-law Arnold and Harry Leppke; and sister-in-law Flora Koepp. Blessed be his memory.
