Mrs. Emma Otillie Roske was born on December 30, 1880, in Barber Township, Faribault County, Minnesota, the daughter of William Daniel Roske and his wife, Caroline (Nohrenberg) Roske. She was baptized on February 20, 1881, in Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church near Blue Earth, Minnesota. The family moved to Omro Townshiip in 1886 and became affiliated with St. John's Lutheran congregation. She renewed and confirmed her baptismal covenant on her confirmation day, March 18, 1894, under the instruction of Rev. Jacob Frey, who used the verse, Isaiah 41:10. On September 2, 1898, she was joined in matrimony with Frederick Gustave Roske. Together they resided on the same farm place until January 14, 1942, when her husband, was called to eternal rest. They had been blessed with one son, Herman, who with his wife, remain to mourn the passing of both parents. Mrs. Roske became seriously ill, about a week preceding her death, and was hospitalized. She received Holy Communion in her hospital room and on Saturday evening heard her Pastor's Easter message of the Saviour's triumphant resurrection. A few moments before the glorious Easter day was to begin, the Lord suddnely brought her earthly sojourn to its close at the age of 77 years, three months and six days. In addition to her son, Herman, and his wife, Ida, at whose farm she continued to reside in her own little home, there remain two sisters and three brothers, namely Martha (Mrs. Fred T. Leppke) of Omro Township, Mrs. Augusta Gottschalk of Montevideo, Minnesota, Carl Roske of Barrett, Minnesota, Ed Roske of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Oscar Roske of Dawson, Minnesota. Her husband, five brothers and one sister preceded her in death. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
