Obituary

Emma Irene (Peterson) Thompson, 83, died April 20, 1988, at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home of Marshall, Minnesota. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 23, 1988, from St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor John T. Christiansen officiating. Organist was Diane Gregoire and soloist was Pastor John T. Christiansen. Vocal Music: "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name" Congregational Hymns: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" "I Love to Tell the Story" Casket Bearers were grandsons Larry and LeRoy Neuman, Jerry Stenerson, Kenneth Thompson, Ross Thompson and Barry Young. Final Resting Place is in the St. Lucas Lutheran Church Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Emma was born January 18, 1905, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County to Peter and Emma (Swenson) Peterson. Emma was baptized and confirmed in the Swede Home Lutheran Church, Swede Prairie Township. She married Oluf Thompson of Normania Township on August 21, 1921. To this union nine children were born. Emma was a homemaker, a dedicated loving Mother, and a devout Christian woman. Crocheting, sewing and gardening were her pasttimes. Her favorite saying was "I live for those who love me, whose hearts are kind and true, for the heaven that smiles above me and awaits my spirit too, for the things that God has given me and the good that I can do." Emma entered the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home of Marshall on November 3, 1987, and resided there until her death. Emma is survived by eight sons and daughters, Viola (Mrs. Ernest) Neuman of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Doris (Mrs. Harvey) Stenerson of Russell, Minnesota, Victor and wife Christl of Rapid City, South Dakota, Virgil and wife Barbara of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Arline (Mrs. Richard) Garry of Edina, Minnesota, Frank and wife Adeline of Glendale, Arizona; Beverly (Mrs. Douglas) Anderson of Edina, Minnesota, and Ruth Ann (Mrs. Darrell) Young of Burnsville, Minnesota; one daughter-in-law, Linda (Mrs. Tom) Thompson of Marshall; 27 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; four sisters, Bettie Thompson, Anna Hanson, Hulda Halvorson all of Clarkfield and Ethel Corbelt of Atascadero, California; two brothers, Ludvig Peterson of Clarkfield and Fredolph Peterson of Westminster, Colorado. Preceding Emma in death were her parents; her husband, Oluf; her son Tom; four brothers; and three sisters. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
