Miss Emma Monson died at the Granite Falls Hospital on Monday morning, November 14, 1983, at the age of 83 years. She was born in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on March 11, 1900, to parents Ole and Bertha (Sande) Monson. She was baptized on April 27, 1900, and confirmed May 24, 1914, at Bergen Lutheran Church of Stony Run Township. She attended rural grade school and Granite Falls High School. She stayed at her parental home and helped to care for her ailing father who passed away in 1926. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed in the dietary kitchen of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America Retirement Home, where she remained until her retirement in 1969. At this time, she returned to Granite Falls, to be near her remaining family. She resided in Riverview Apartments until failing health made it necessary for her to enter the Granite Falls Manor. She is survived by her sister Mabel (Mrs. Clarence Heimark) and her brother Clarence Monson, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Melvin, Henry, Chris, Oscar, Bennie and Alfred; and sister Mary. Funeral Services were held on November 17, 1983, 11:00 a.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church, Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with the Rev. William Klavetter officiating. Organist was Mrs. David Gabrielson and Mr. Adrian Johnson was soloist. Casket Bearers were Charles Heimark, Jr, Gregory Monson, Curtis Heimark, John Monson, Randal Heimark and Thomas Monson. Final Resting Place is Bergen Lutheran Cemetery, Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota Visitation was held November 16, 1983, at Lynner Funeral Home, Clarkfield, Minnesota.
