Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Larson, who passed away at the Clarkfield Hospital, May 14, 1974, at the age of 95 years, were held Friday, May 17, 1974, at the Israel Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Fodness officiating. Rev. Gordon Trelstad of Clarkfield Lutheran Church was guest speaker. David Werner served as organist with special music by Loren Norgaard accompanied by his wife Diane. Casket Bearers were six grandsons: Lyle Hanson, Earl Berg, Ardell Larson, Jerry Nikolaisen, Donald Kompelien and Michael Soppeland. Burial was at Israel Lutheran Cemetery. Emma Josephine Knutson Larson was born October 21, 1878, at Beloit, Wisconsin, to parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Knutson. The family lived on a farm near Jasper, Minnesota She was united in marriage to Carl Axel Larson in June of 1899. Twelve children were born to the Larsons. They include: Ellen (Mrs. Lloyd Hanson) of Canby, Minnesota, Emil of Clarkfield, Esther (Mrs. John Kompelien) of Minneota, Minnesota, Grace (Mrs. A. Raymond Anderson) of Spicer, Minnesota, Ruth (Mrs. Oscar Nelson) of Clarkfield, Ruby (Mrs. Arthur Gordon) of Clarkfield, Lloyd, who passed away in 1970, Edith (Mrs. Arne Berg) of Clarkfield, Velmin of Boyd, Minnesota, Olaf of Clarkfield, Gladys (Mrs. Carrold Soppeland) of Clarkfield, and Dorothy (Mrs. Merle Nikolaisen) of Clarkfield. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957, son Lloyd, her parents, four sisters, one brother and two great grandchildren. She is survived by 11 children, daughter-in-law Charlotte Larson, 31 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
