IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma (Hanson)
Jorgenson
September 23, 1878 – September 23, 1878
Emma Jorgenson was one of ten children of Tosten and Britta Hanson. She was born in Iowa on September 23, 1878, and came with her family when about one year old to Tyro Township, to the farm now owned by the Fritz Johnsons. On this farm, she grew to womanhood, receiving her education at the local schools and her religious training at Clarkfield Lutheran. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1909, to John H. Jorgenson at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. The couple resided on the Tyro farm for three years. They then moved to Hazel Run where they resided all but three years of their wedded life. These three years were spent at Troy, South Dakota. One daughter, Beatrice, was born to this couple. Following her husband's death on Sunday, May 14, 1961, Emma has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Beatrice and Raymond Sletto. Her health had been failing and just a few days preceding her passing she was admitted to a nursing home, where she passed away at the age of 85 years. Surviving her are her daughter, son-in-law, one granddaughter, Sandra and husband John Swisher, all of Ohio. Preceding Mrs. Jorgenson in death were her parents; brothers: Henry and Edward Hanson; sisters: Mary (Mrs. Ed Johnson), Josephine (Mrs. George Lund), and Severina Hanson; four younger ones in infancy or during the diphtheria epidemic.
