Emma Pauline Brovold was born March 14, 1887, in Lisbon Township, the daughter of Ole and Johanna (Olerud) Iverson. She was a lifelong resident of Yellow Medicine County. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church and a member of the church up to her death. She was united in marriage to Bernard Brovold in 1906. Nine children blessed this union, all of whom survive their mother. Her husband passed away April 20, 1953. She lived on the farm in Lisbon Township until the last few years, when she lived in Granite Falls. The children include Olaf Brovold of Montevideo, Jennie (Mrs. Alfred Peterson) and Ernest Brovold of Clarkfield, Mrs. Cora Johnson, Ingeval and Clinton of Granite Falls, Esther (Mrs. Anton Nelson) and Benford of Boyd, and Mamie (Mrs. Thomas Amundson) of Dawson. In addition to her children, she is survived by 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one brother, Anton Iverson of Roslyn, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her parents; three brothers: Halvor, Chris and Olaf Iverson; and a sister, Maren. Mrs. Brovold passed away at the Granite Falls Manor after a lingering illness on January 1, 1964, at the age of 77 years. She will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren and all who knew her. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
