Emily Margrit Zeuthen Hollenbeck was born April 30, 1898, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter of Fritz and Margrit Zeuthen. She was baptized by Pastor B.B. Jonsson. When she was two years old, her family moved to Minneota. She was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She attended school in Minneota and after receiving her teaching certificate, taught several years in Lyon County, Taunton, and Russell. She was married to Robert C. Hollenbeck in 1923. They farmed near Russell for several years. They had four children; Marguerite, Robert Jr., James, and Audrey. They farmed in the Cottonwood area a couple years, then moved to Stony Run Township where they purchased a farm. She was active in Bergen Lutheran Church, serving as pianist for the choir and other activities of the church. She was also active in the Stony Run 4-H Club and served as a leader. After her husband died in 1956, she moved to Clarkfield. She was employed at the Farm Bureau Office until she retired. She was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church. She sang in the ladies choir, was active in the CLCW, circle member, and served as needed. She was active in the Legion Auxiliary and served as president, a member of the Study Club and Homemakers Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and crocheting. In 1992, her apartment was destroyed by a tornado. She decided not to set up housekeeping again and became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. She is survived by sons Robert Jr. and wife Mavis, James and wife Lu, daughter Audrey Kalmoe, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Marguerite, son-in-law Irvin Kalmoe, two granddaughters, one grandson, three brothers and two sisters. May God bless and keep her.
