Obituary

Emil V. Slavick was born on February 14, 1901, to Joseph and Marie (Krutzner) Slavick at Judson, North Dakota. He graduated in 1924 from the business college in Fargo, North Dakota. He married Ida Miller on June 15, 1925. Mr. Slavick was a banker in Belfield. North Dakota, until 1935, when he moved to Beulah, North Dakota, and was a banker there until 1938. The couple then moved to Paynesville, Minnesota, where he owned and operated a hardware store. In 1951, he moved to Cottonwood and was a banker at the Empire State Bank. He retired from an active role in 1972. He was Chairman of the Board at the bank at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cottonwood, Lions Club of Cottonwood and Masonic Lodge of Marshall, Minnesota. Emil Slavick is survived by three children, Allen of Willlmar, Minnesota, Myron of San Diego, California, and Carol Slavick of St. Paul, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Adel Toman of Flasher, North Dakota. He is preceded in death by his wife in February of 1983; and two brothers Joseph and William. Emil Slavick passed away at his home in Cottonwood on Saturday, April 21, 1984, at the age of 83.
