Emil E. Sievers, 87, died January 16, 1988, at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 1988, at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, with Pastor Charles Simmons officiating. The organist was Kathy Jahn with special music by the Jessen family. Honorary Casket Bearers were Arlen Moe, Galen Peterson, Walter Olson and Gordon Kruse. Active Casket Bearers were Walter Lehmann, Dean Lehmann, Vernon Loose, Arnold Walters, Cletus Kruse and Arlen Koepp. Final Resting Place is Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Emil was born August 23, 1900, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Ernest and Mathilda (Bohn) Sievers. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on September 16, 1900, by Rev. Hillgar and confirmed at Zion on April 5, 1914, by Rev. Luttman. He was active in his church serving as Elder, Trustee and on various committees. Emil was janitor at the church for many years. He also served on the School Board for District 53. On April 5, 1942, he married Evelyn Moe at Dawson, Minnesota, with Rev. Wee officiating. They had four children. Emil is survived by his wife Evelyn of rural Boyd, Minnesota; two sons, Merlyn and wife Darla of Lakeville, Minnesota, Gerald and wife Kriss of Boyd; two daughters, Marlys and husband Jerry of Canby, Minnesota, Lois and husband Jim of North Platte, Nebraska; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emma Lehmann; stepsisters, Sophie Sievers, Lydia Lemke, Amanda Bohn; step brother, Otto Bohn; and granddaughter Jessica.
