Obituary

Emil J. Rogge was born November 23, 1885, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry and Rosena (Martin) Rogge. When he was one year old the family moved to a homestead in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Mr. Rogge lived there for 60 years before moving to Granite Falls, Minnesota, where he spent the last four years of his life. In 1914 he married Emma Laechelt. One daughter, Lucille, was born to this union. Mrs. Rogge died in 1918. Mr. Rogge was remarried in 1920 to Mrs. Minnie Eggen of Adair, Iowa. She had two children by a previous marriage, Leonard and Doris. Another son, Wayne was born to this union. Since early last fall Mr. Rogge's health had been failing and in February it was decided that he go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Due to the seriousness of his ailment the doctors there found it necessary to hospitalize him for treatment. Mrs. Rogge had accompanied him there where they remained for over two weeks. Just nine days before his death, Mr. Rogge was brought by ambulance to the Montevideo hospital so that it would be more convenient for his family to be at his bedside. He passed away March 15, 1951, at the Montevideo hospital, at the age of 65 years. Mr. Rogge is survived by his wife and four children: Lucille of Minneapolis, Doris (Mrs. Joseph Fjerkenstad), Wayne and Leonard of Boyd; two daughters-in-law; and one son-in-law. Also surviving are three sisters, two brothers and seven grandchildren. Mr. Rogge, a great lover of children, will be missed by many.
