Emelia Susanna Ness was born on February 21, 1888, the daughter of Peder A. Ness and Karen J. Bakken Ness. She was born on the old Ness farm where she grew to young womanhood. Later, she and her sister, Anna, moved to Minneapolis where Emelia worked for Honeywell until her retirement. On June 4, 1965, she returned to the old farm home where she wished to live the remainder of her days. By the last days of July, 1966, her health had failed so much due to repeated strokes, that it was decided that better care could be provided in a nursing home. She was taken to the Clarkfield Nursing Home where she suffered a severe stroke on Monday, December 19, 1966, and passed away on Friday afternoon, December 23, 1966, at the age of 78 years. Emelia was the last surviving member of a pioneer family. She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces who as one wrote, we will remember her as a kind, gentle aunt, who never failed to give them love and devotion.
