Mrs. Ema Skaug Flugstad, 87, died Saturday, August 22, 1986, at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 1986, at the Lynner Funeral Home Chapel in Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Gordon Trelstad officiating. Vocal music was by Merrill P. Womack. Casket Bearers were Ardine Berkvam, Jon Flugstad, Mark Flugstad and Chester Nelson. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield City Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was born October 7, 1898, to Jorgen and Josephine (Casperson) Skaug in Clarkfield. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Storaasli. She was a member of the Lutheran choir for many years and graduated from Clarkfield high School in 1918. She went on to graduate from the Minneapolis Business College and from the Western Telegraph School of Telegraphy. She got her teaching degrees from St. Cloud College and Mankato. She taught for 18 years, the last four in Lake Lillian in the first and second grades. She married M. O. Flugstad in 1925 and had a son, David, of Bloomington, Minnesota. Their years were spent in the Minnesota communities of Clarkfield, Boyd, Granite Falls, Montevideo, Bird Island and later Minneapolis. She belonged to the Lutheran Churches there. She was very active in the Eastern Star, a fraternal charity organization. She was past matron of the O.E.S. OF Clarkfield Chapter 297, Past Grand Representative of Minnesota to Canada, belonged to the National Grand Representative Club of Washington and was an honorary member of the International Peach Gardens.
