Elwyn M. Loken, affectionately called "Lars" was born on the Swede Prairie homestead to parents Lars and Marie (Auflem) Loken. One of eight children, he graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1927 as Valedictorian of his class. Lars lived for many years in Oelwin, Iowa, where he had his own plumbing and electrical contracting business. He returned to Clarkfield in 1977 where he resided at Valhalla Apartments and worked as maintenance engineer, until his passing at age 74. Lars was prededed in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Luvig and Marvin; sisters Clara, Anne, Louise and LuElla. He is survived by one sister, Minnie Axeline who resides at Roberts Nursing Home in Oelwein, Iowa; sister-in-law, Nora Loken; many nieces and nephews; plus many, many friends. He will be sadly missed by all, but remembered in love and tenderness for all the kindnesses he has shown to all who knew and loved him.
