Obituary

Mrs. Elvira Hanson was born July 26, 1875, at Danville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Marshall and Rosetta (Reed) Davison. As an infant, she moved with her parents to Walnut, Illinois, where she lived several years. She taught school a few years at Centerville, South Dakota. On October 19, 1898, she was united in marriage to Alonzo Hanson at Lyons, Nebraska. To this union eight children were born. In March 1915, the family moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, where they lived eight years. In 1922 they moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota, and two years later to Litchfield, Minnesota, where they lived until moving to Clarkfield in 1948. Her husband passed away in January, 1953. Mrs. Hanson suffered a severe stroke in January, 1955, which left her completely helpless. She has been cared for at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Willmar, Minnesota, since July, 1955. She passed away at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, April 17, 1957. Her parents, one sister, and two brothers preceded her in death. A daughter, Pearl, died in May, 1949. Left to mourn her passing are seven children, namely, Raymond of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Gladys (Mrs. Edgar Schindler) of Yakima, Washington, Ruby (Mrs. Alonzo Wharton) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Edith (Mrs. S.J. DeMarco) of Seattle, Washington, Gordon of Gardena, California, Howard of Los Angeles, California, and Chester of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four brothers, namely: Herbert Davison of Beatrice, Nebraska, Ralph of Omaha, Nebraska, Griggs of Yuma, Arizona, and Allen of Beatrice, Nebraska, besides many nieces and nephews.
