Elver Joseph Johnson, 91, of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, died Monday, February 10, 1986, at Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 1986, 1:30 p.m., Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, with Rev. Norman Schey officiating. The organist was Mrs. Mavis Gustafson with soloist Mrs. Mavis Ellingson. Casket Bearers were Evan Johnson, Eric Johnson, Lowell Gustafson, Warren Simonson, Everett Simonson and Gary Enger. Final Resting Place is the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. He was born December 1, 1894, to Hans Johnson, who immigrated to the United States from Norway when he was 10. Elver grew up in Lac qui Parle County. Elver's mother, Nora (Baanrud) was also of Norwegian descent. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. He volunteered for the military service on March 22, 1918, and served with the A.E.F. in the 29th Engineers. He was a graduate of Dawson High School and a business college in St. Paul, Minnesota. On May 9, 1936, he married Thelma Isabelle Simonson. For 23 years he was a bulk distributor for Standard Oil Company (Indiana) in Hanley Falls. After retiring from the Standard Oil Company in 1954, he was a sales representative for the Pioneer Seed Company for several years. He was a member of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls. He is survived by wife Thelma of Hanley Falls; sons, James Elver Johnson of Denton, Texas and Charles Thomas Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren, Evan James Johnson of Hanley Falls, Eric Charles Johnson of Minneapolis, Elaine Renee Johnson, Kirk Elver Johnson and Kristin Linnea Johnson all of Denton, Texas; great grandson, Michael Evan Johnson of Denton. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Herman and Halis and sisters Carrie and Ella. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
