Elsie Ernestina Anderson was born June 22, 1911, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Ida Marie (Janke) Galow. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended St. John's parochial school. On June 6, 1936, Elsie married Oscar Anderson. They farmed until Oscar's health failed and he retired. Elsie joined the Swede Home Lutheran Church in 1938 and had been an active member since, involved in the ladies aid and WMS, Sunday School superintendent and involved with the building of the new Swede Home Church after the old edifice burned. Elsie became a resident of Homefront in July of 2005. Elsie passed away January 11, 2007, at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital, at the age of 95 years. She is survived by three of her four children: Ray (and Marilyn) of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, LaVilla (and Arlin) Jibben of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Larry (and Jeannine) of Jacksonville, Florida; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar in 1995, one son, Darryl, two daughters-in-law, Joann and Shirley, and two grandchildren, Douglas and Daren Anderson.
