(Abramowski) Hilden
July 21, 1905 – March 22, 2005
Elsie Anne (Abramowski) Hilden was born July 21, 1905, at Bellingham, Minnesota, to parents Emil and Wilhelmina (Theirfeldt) Abramowski. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on May 12, 1918. She attended Country School District 88 in Perry Township of Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. Elsie married Melford Lynne on November 12, 1927. They were the parents of two sons: Merle and John. The Lynnes lived in Boyd, Minnesota, where they owned and operated "Red and White Grocery". Melford died at an early age and left Elsie with two young sons, Merle age 6 and John age 2. Elsie and her sons moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she eventually built and operated "Elsie's Cafe", which was near the Niazi Clinic. Elsie married Alfred Hilden on September 18, 1947. They continued to live in Clarkfield where she worked at her cafe, East Side Cafe, and also the Clarkfield Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant. Alfred died in 1982 and Elsie remained in her home until she became a resident at the Clarkfield Care Center in 1996. She was a lifetime member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her family. Elsie passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at the Care Center at the age of 99 years and 8 months. She is survived by her son Merle (and Mary) Lynne of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and her family: Sharon (Lynne) Schultz, Lois (Lynne) Heule, Delight (Lynne) Brookins, and 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters; three brothers; husbands Melford Lynne and Alfred Hilden; son John Edward Lynne Sr.; and granddaughter, Melanie Lynne. Blessed be her memory.
