IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elsa Julia
(Becerra) Olevson
April 7, 1959 – September 1, 2025
Elsa Julia Olevson (Becerra), 66, of Granite Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on September 1st, 2025, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Granite Falls, MN, at 1 PM on Monday, September 15th, 2025. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Elsa was born April 6th, 1959, in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, to Narciso and Balbina (Placencia) Becerra. She was raised in a large, loving family of 10 brothers and 4 sisters. Elsa grew up in Ensenada and traveled back and forth between Mexico and California in her younger years before settling in Minnesota in 1989. On September 18th, 1997, she was united in marriage to Duane Olevson. They made Granite Falls their home, raising four children.
Elsa possessed a vivacious personality and was well liked by all. She loved dancing, making jokes (even if they weren't always appropriate) and could fill a room with her loud and contagious laugh. Elsa loved to travel. She and Duane would journey state to state and would often end up in her homeland of Mexico. Most of all she loved and cherished her family. Her home was always the gathering place for holidays and special occasions. Memories made in her home will never be forgotten.
Elsa is survived by her husband, Duane; children, Claudia Becerra, Carla Esquibel, Carlos (Paige) Esquibel, Isaac Olevson and Kate; grandchildren, Leonardo Gomez and Jade, Michael Gomez, Julissa Labatte, Ezra Ross, Kairo Ross; siblings, Isabel Seals, Teresa Peterson, Maria Elena Becerra, Guadalupe Becerra, Narciso Becerra, Pascual Becerra, Mauro Becerra, Lucas Becerra; in-laws, Dean (Sonya) Olevson, Louise (Larry) Schultz and many nieces and nephews.
