Elroy V. Friberg was born on the farm of his parents, Frank and Clara (Nelson) Friberg in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, near Clarkfield on October 31, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed at the Fridhem Lutheran Church. Elroy attended and graduated from the Clarkfield High School and then went on to attend collge at the State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Elroy married Leora Braun in Wood Lake, Minnesota, on January 14, 1950. They lived and farmed on the home farm of his parents in Tyro Township. Elroy enjoyed aviation and piloting for many years as well as amature radio operation. He was also employed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Clarkfield and worked with estate administration. Elroy was a director for both the Boyd Elevator and the Clarkfield Bank, assessor for Tyro Township, kept the records for Fridhem Cemetary, and was active on many boards for the Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. Elroy Friberg passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on Monday, February 20, 1984, at the age of 62. Surviving Elroy are his wife, Leora of Clarkfield; one daughter Claire (Mrs. William) Hartman and one granddaughter Rena of St. Paul, Minnesota; and one brother Virgil of Clarkfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara. Funeral Services for Elroy Friberg were held Thursday, February 23, 1984, at 2:00 p.m. from Augustana Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Ralph B. Belin officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathy Jahn with vocal music by Mr. Alvern Johnson. Final Resting Place is Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery with William Jahn, Edward Hanson, Daryle Toft, Neil Anderson, Charles Friberg and Hago Friberg serving as Casket Bearers.
