Elmo John Sandvig was born June 9, 1922, at Brooten, Minnesota, to parents Elmer and Ellen (Skogen) Sandvig. He was baptized by Pastor Sund at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Brooten and confirmed at Our Saviour's in Montevideo by Pastor Mason. He attended schools in Brtooten area, District 77 of rural Clarkfield, and Clarkfield High School. Pastor P.L. Mork joined Elmo and Marlene Jurgenson in Marriage at Clarkfield Lutheran Church on November 2, 1953. To this union two children were born: Leslee Ellen and Kris Elmo. Elmo spent 23 years with the Clarkfield Public School as custodian and bus driver. Previous to that time he farmed north of Clarkfield with his father. Mr. Sandvig was a veteran of the United States Army. Elmo passed away at his home Monday evening, November 21, 1977, at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife Marlene; children: Leslee of Minneapolis and Kris of Clarkfield; one uncle and two aunts: John Skogen of Granite Falls, Lila Erickson of Montevideo and Sara Halvorson of Minneapolis; one great uncle and two great aunts: John Stenson of the Clarkfield Care Center, Alma Christopherson of Clarkfield and Tillie Ekholm of Montevideo; plus a number of cousins. Preceding Elmo in death were his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Annie Jurgenson. IN MEMORY OF ELMO J.
