Elmira Virginia Hanson was born September 30, 1915 at Cottonwood, Minnesota to parents Ludwig and Millie Vien. She was baptized and later confirmed, both at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Elmira married Henry Hanson at Granite Falls, MN in January of 1934. She worked as a housewife and owned and operated a Country Store in Normania Township for many years. She also worked as a teacher's aide in the Clarkfield School and did janitorial duties at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Elmira was involved in many activities at St. Lucas. Elmira passed away on Saturday, March 28th at the Presbyterian Homes in Spring Park, MN at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 26 days. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn (and husband Wayne) Hegna of Pequot Lakes, MN, and Dorothy (and husband Don) Long of Plymouth, MN, and son Bradley (and wife Colette) Hanson of Fridley, MN. She is also survived by grandchildren: Kyle (and wife Pat) Hegna, Corey (and wife Lauren) Hegna, Justin and Sari Long, and great granddaughter Chandler Hegna and great-grandson Jacob Hegna. Also surviving is brother Leslie (and wife Ida) Vien, sister Margaret Martin, sister Violet (and husband Orville) Damaan, sister Jean (and husband Ed) Lundstrom and sister-in-law Rebecca Vien. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, brothers Francis and Hiram Vien, brother-in-law Bill Martin, and niece Lavonne Reid.
