Elmer Otto Piipke was born on December 29, 1907, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Henry and Magdalena (Galow) Piipke. He grew up in Omro Township and attended St. John's Parochial School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Omro Township. Elmer married Elsie Pauline Roske on March 20, 1938. They were married by Pastor A.W.F. Fuerstenow. To this union one son, Marvin, was born. Elmer and Elsie farmed around this area until moving to New Ulm, Minnesota. They moved back to the Dawson and Clarkfield areas until they moved to the Clarkfield Care Center in 1994. Elmer passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Monday, June 7, 1999, at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 10 days. He is survived by son Marvin and wife Gloria and grandchildren: Lorie (and Steve) Fetzik, Daryl Piipke, and fiance Donna Hanson, Glenda (and Mark) Hofteig, Danae (and Steve) Rupp, and Tammy (and Will) Wiebe. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: David and Jacob Fetzik and Megan Hofteig; sister Elda Kopitzke; sisters-in-law Frieda Weckwerth and Lydia Steering; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie, in 1995; parents; granddaughter Brenda Lea; brothers Walter, Ted, and Benjamin; and sisters Leona and Agnes. Elmer was an avid "Twins" fan. His gentle and kind nature and his love for his family and friends will be greatly missed. Blessed be his memory.
