Elmer Melbostad was born February 13, 1895, to Amund and Mathilda (Hansrud) Melbostad on a farm in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a faithful member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he served in many capacities over the years. He served in France during WWI and was a charter member of the American Legion. On September 22, 1926, he was united in marriage to Anna Strand at Mankato, Minnesota. Elmer will be remembered as a clerk at Grinager's Store where he was employed for over 52 years, retiring in 1965. He is survived by his wife Anna; brother, Oscar of Clarkfield, Minnesota; one niece, Audrey Hill, Warren, Michigan; and four nephews: Conrad Hoff, St. Paul, Minnesota, Marlowe Hoff, Mankato, Minnesota, Joe Appelwick, Pine City, Minnesota, and Arvid Melbostad, Clarkfield, Minnesota; and several grand nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. He was a quiet home loving friend and neighbor and will be missed by many. Blessed be his memory!
