Elmer John Loose was born on October 14, 1913 at Boyd, Minnesota to parents Julius and Martha (Kelm) Loose. He was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran Faith and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church (Tyro Township) on May 1, 1927 by Rev. E. H. Neuman. On June 1, 1941, Elmer was united in marriage to Hazel Haukos at the Hegre Lutheran Church of rural Madison, MN by Rev. S. C. Simonson. To this union three daughters were born: Arlene Lorraine, Carol Marie, and Ruth Ann. In February of 1944 the family moved to a farm southwest of Hazel Run. They joined the Hazel Run Lutheran Church on December 5, 1948. Elmer served as Deacon, Usher, and on the Cemetery Perpetual Care Trust Board. He loved music. He was a member of the Hazel Run Male Chorus and the Hazel Run Church Senior Choir. He enjoyed the many tours he and Hazel made to Branson, MO, to Nashville, TN, and the "Host Fest" at Minot, ND. Elmer also enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing. Elmer passed away on Sunday morning, December 28, 1997 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 15 days. He is survived by wife, Hazel, and their three daughters: Arlene (and John) Todd of Warner Robins, GA; Carol (and Bill) Krassoi of Villa Park, IL; and Ruth (and Rich) Van Overbeke of Pleasonton, CA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three great grandsons, two step great grandsons, and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alma Kluth and brother Art Loose, two nieces and one nephew.
