Elmer Willie Gustafson, the son of John and Johanna (Pederson) Gustafson was born March 21, 1899, at Hanley Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church at Hanley Falls by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard and confirmed in the same church in 1913. Following his graduation from the University Farm School, he lived at Mora, Minnesota, where he met Esther Parr of Ogilvie, Minnesota. They were united in marriage on June 2, 1929, at Ogilvie by Rev. Mathias Pederson. Shortly thereafter they moved to a farm north of Hanley Falls where they were engaged in farming. This union was blessed with three sons: Stanton, Earle and Lowell. Following the death of his wife in 1956, he continued to farm until 1960 at which time he married Mrs. Nina Lewis of Nashua, Iowa, where on the afternoon of February 12, 1970, he suffered heart failure and passed from this life at the age of 70 years. Along with his wife, Esther, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert and a sister, Mabel. He is survived by his wife, Nina Gustafson of Nashua, Iowa; his sons: Stanton of Carson City, Nevada, Earle and Lowell, both of Hanley Falls; three brothers: Melvin of Hanley Falls, Arthur of Minneapolis and Sanford of Minnetonka, Minnesota; three sisters: Mrs. Anna Johnson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Thelma Dressel of Wayzata, Minnesota, Mrs. Ardella Bailey of Sunnydale, California; stepdaughter, Shelley Jeanne and her husband Dr. Don Trefz and three children of Charles City, Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
