Elmer John Feist was born in Hinton, Iowa on April 24, 1899, to his parents, Michael and Lena (Amsler) Feist. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church of Normania Township, rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. Elmer was married to Betty Grobel of Dawson, Minnesota, on May 7, 1931, and during that time worked for Marshall Produce driving truck. World War II brought Elmer to the Minneapolis, Minnesota, area and employment with the Firestone Tire Company. Later Elmer moved back to the Clarkfield area to farm until the time of his retirement. Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years taught this enjoyment to his grandchildren by bringing them with. He enjoyed large family gatherings and he enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren who helped pass his time of retirement. Recent years for Elmer have been spent as a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center where he passed away on Monday, April 15, 1991, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 15 days. Elmer is survived by his five children, Donald and Darlene Feist of Clarkfield, Patricia Dotseth of Willmar, Minnesota, Susan and John Christensen of Clarkfield, Roger and Phyllis Feist of Buffalo, Minnesota, Katherine and Jesse Eliason of Wyoming, Minnesota; one brother William Feist of Clarkfield; one sister, Mrs. Rose Carter of Alexandria, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Belma Feist of Montevideo, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Preceding Elmer in death were his parents; his wife, Betty; two brothers, Herman and Clarence; and two sisters, Verna Weber and Caroline Weber.
