Mrs. Ellen Olson, who had been in ill health a number of years, passed away at noon Wednesday, April 17, 1957, at her home in Clarkfield. She was born December 17, 1876, the daughter of Anders and Anna Sophia (Olander) Youngmark at Carver, Minnesota, where she was also baptized. At an early age, Ellen Laurina Youngmark, with her parents, moved to Clear Lake, Minnesota, where she was confimed by Rev. Oslund at the age of 15 years. In 1892 the family moved to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, where she was united in marriage to Christian A. Olson in 1897. Mr. Olson passed away in 1932. With the exception of six years spent at Clinton and Barnesville, where Mr. Olson managed a lumber company, Mrs. Olson was a resident of the Clarkfield community. Mrs. Olson is survived by her four children, namely, Elmer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mae (Mrs. Albert Christensen) of Clarkfield, Herbert of Barnesville, Minnesota, and Harriet at home; six grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, namely, Adin of Madison, Minnesota, Mrs. Hulda Hulteen of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Ansgar and Esther Youngmark of Minneapolis, Mrs. Emil Skaug of Clarkfield, Mrs. Hannah Quale of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Edgar Hagan of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mrs. Olson was devoted to her church, where she was an active worker as long as her health permitted. She was a charter member of the Women's Missionary Society and served as treasurer for the society for twenty-five years. She will be lovingly remembered by a host of friends for her genuine warmth, kindness, and utmost sincerity. She will be especially missed by her children and grandchildren who will always cherish the memory of the ideal home life she provided for them and her exemplary life as a devoted Christian mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mrs. Edith McGilvra and one brother, Levi. IN MEMORY OF ELLEN L.
