Funeral services were held for Ellen Olina Anderson at the Camp Release Church Saturday, September 13, 1947, and was laid to rest at the church cemetery. Rev. Helland of Sacred Heart officiated. Special vocal music was offered by Rev. Helland and Dorothy and Geraldine Swang. Floral decorations were beautiful and generous sums were donated to Missions. Pallbearers were Alfred and Rey Swenson, Nels Halvorson, Marvin Jorgenson, Pete Hawkinson, Henry Heimark. Ellen Olina Anderson was born in Bergen, Norway, on the 25th day of September, 1884, of parents Andrew and Brita (Oakland) Anderson. She passed away September 9th, 1947, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and nine days. At the age of nine years she came to this country with her mother and sister, Anna Mathilda, her father having passed away in Norway. She and her mother made their home with her aunt, Mrs. Jon Johnson and attended rural school while there. Later her mother remarried Peter Swenson and she made her home with them. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and had attended religious school in Norway. Deceased was confirmed in the Camp Release Church here. When her mother passed away she came to make her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S.O. Swenson. She was there for about 20 years. When her sister passed away she came to make her home with her nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Swenson of Boyd, Minnesota. Here she lived for a little more than six years. Miss Anderson had been in poor health for some time. Last fall she was taken to the University Hospital where everything possible was done for her that she might regain her health. It seemed for a time she was gaining strength, but soon thereafter was taken suddenly ill and on September 9th passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Swenson. Deceased leaves to mourn her departure three sisters: Alma (Mrs. Bennie Agre) of Clarkfield and two sisters in Norway, Martha and Elizabeth Anderson; one aunt, Mrs. Anna Amundson, besides numerous nieces and nephews and cousins in the Clarkfield community, and a host of friends. Ellen was of a quiet and kind nature, was a true christian and was prepared to go on her last journey. Blessed be her memory. We want to contribute this to Ellen as she was a soul of prayer and devotion every day. In loving memory of Ellen Olina Anderson: On the Wings of Prayer My soul takes wings in Prayer And soars to Heaven high, Away from earthly care Beyond the bright blue sky To be with God alone And there find needed rest, While waiting at His throne For there I know I'm blest. Through Jesus Christ I find An open, free access; My Father, loving kind, With peace my soul doth bless; His Spirit gives me grace To lay my burdens there, He fills my soul with praise And guides me everywhere Enriched, refreshed and blest My Soul can then have rest.
