Ella Othelia Nybakken was born June 2, 1911 to Peter and Bertha Marie (Bakke) Nybakken near Minot, North Dakota. She spent all of her childhood years on the family farm near Minot. On June 11, 1935, Ella married Hilmar Halvorson at his parents home in Clarkfield. They farmed in the area for many years. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. Together, Hilmar and Ella wove many rag rugs. For the last five and one-half years, Ella has resided at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She passed away at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls on Tuesday, October 6, 1992, at the age of 81 years. Ella is survived by her two daughters, B. Marie Bushard and her husband Howard of Dent, Minnesota, Helen Syde and her husband Dale of Bloomington, Minnesota; one son, Nuel P. and his wife Carol of Escondido, California; eleven grandchildren, Randy, Roberta, Ryan, Rene, Reed, Scott, Lon, Gary, Tammy, Greg, and Karen; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Arne and Edward of Minot, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilmar; grandson, Jeff; great grandson, Samuel; five sisters, Inga, Marie, Alma, Agnes, Borghild; two infant sisters; three brothers, Emil, Ralph, Albert; one infant brother. She will be sadly missed by us all.
