IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ella Cecilia
(Dahl) Bomgren
June 15, 1889 – July 12, 1911
Ella Cecilia Bomgren was born June 15, 1889, in Pecatonia, Illinois, the daughter of a lay pastor John A. Dahl and his wife Christine. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and after her early years, she became a teacher while in her teens. On July 12, 1911, she became the bride of Rev. C.O. Bomgren. They began their work as man and wife in the gospel ministry at Marathon, Iowa. While living in this parish, son, Linne was born and daughter, Olga. The next parish served was in Greensbuy, Pennsylvania. While serving in this parish their youngest son, Roy, was born. Succeeding parishes included Meridan, Connecticut, Falconer, New York, Lake City, Minnesota, and in 1940, the First English and Swede Home Parishes of Clarkfield. Here she successfully worked until the summer of 1954 when she and Rev. Bomgren retired and moved to Granite Falls to spend their declining years. Shortly thereafter, however, a vcancy at Newman Grove, Nebraska, beckoned them to carry on God's work until a pastor could be secured. They not only served the congregation but carried the load of a large building project also. Mrs. Bomgren not only served the duties of a pastor's wife, but in most cases served as the church organist and leader in the music work. She was a strong supporter of the mission fields and worked hard in this behalf. Her past several years have been spent quietly at her home in Granite Falls as a faithful wife and mother, using every bit of the strength her Lord gave her. Surviving are her husband; three children, two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, namely, Rev. Linne Bomgren and wife of Atwater, Minnesota, Rev. and Mrs. Harold Peterson of Darlington, Wisconsin, and Roy and his wife of St. Paul; eleven grandchildren: Steven, Jonathan, Gail, Ann and Paul of Atwater, Bruce, Kent and Virgil Peterson of Darlington and Daniel, Marcia and Walter of St. Paul; one brother, Arthur, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
