Elenora (Ella) Diana Hoiland was born June 13, 1897, in Normania Township to John and Polla (Kise) Berre. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Lucas Parish, and remained a lifelong member of that congregation. On March 21, 1917, she was united in marriage to Selmer Hoiland. She lived most of her life in Normania Township. In 1970 she moved to Starbuck, Minnesota, to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Buysse. She passed away at the Minnewaska Hospital on September 14, 1977, at age 80. She is survived by two daughters: Ardis, Mrs. Leonard Buysse of Starbuck, and Janice, Mrs. Oliver Huseby of Cook, Minnesota; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters: Edna, Mrs. Harland Sharkey and Judith Harris, both of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Isabelle Gilbertson of Marshall, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Selmer; son Kermit; one sister; and three brothers. IN MEMORY OF ELLA D.
