(Goede) Anderson
July 15, 1903 – August 8, 1998
Elenora Blanche Anderson was born July 15, 1903, at Sanborn, Minnesota to parents William and Lucinder (Dingier) Goede. She was baptized at Sanborn, Minnesota, confirmed at First English Lutheran by Rev. Carl Anderson, and attended school through the 8th grade. Melvin served in the United States Army and during World War I from January 1918 to March of 1919. He served in France from August 1918 to March of 1919. Melvin and Elenora were married November 16, 1927 at Hallock, Minnesota. Two children were blessed to this union: Warren and Evangeline. They farmed in Tyro Township until the mid 1940's, when they moved to Clarkfield. Melvin worked as a carpenter until the 1950's, when he became a Custodian at the Clarkfield Public School. Melvin and Elenora moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo in early 1990's and then became residents at the Clarkfield Care Center in August of 1996. The Andersons enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Elenora liked to knit and crochet and make rag rugs. As a couple they would make chairs and furniture from pop cans. Melvin was a member of the Clarkfield American Legion and both were members of Augustana Lutheran Church. Melvin celebrated his 100th birthday in March, Elenora her 95th in July, and in November of 1997 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Melvin passed away on Saturday morning, August 8, 1998 at the Care Center at the age of 100 years, 5 months, and 8 days. Elenora passed away on Tuesday morning, August 11, 1998 at the Care Center at the age of 95 years, and 28 days. They are survived by their son, Warren and grandson Jeff, both of Cornelius, Oregon; son-in-law Richard Bailie of Bremerton, WA and Elenora's sister Esther Harstad of Elk River, MN and several nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their parents; daughter Evangeline Bailey; daughter-in-law Berniel Anderson; and brothers and sisters of both. Blessed be the memory of Melvin and Elenora Anderson.
