Eldora Kompelien was born November 15, 1915, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Theodore and Louise (Hanson) Kompelien. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, rural Cottonwood, Minnesota. On March 8, 1941, she married Gordon Jolstad in Cottonwood. They farmed in Normania Township until retiring in 1978. Continuing to live on the farm, they enjoyed camping and fishing until Gordon's death on November 26, 1985. Eldora was an active member of the St. Lucas WELCA. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making crafts. Eldora died Thursday, November 19, 1992, at the age of 77, at home on her farm. She is survived by two sons, Richard (and wife Marge) of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Leroy (and wife Cindy) of Marshall, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Terri, Jay, Lisa Jolstad, Cody and Cassie VanOverbeke; two brothers, Orville Kompelien and Thurman Kompelien of Cottonwood; and three sisters, Mildred Vanstrom of Kasson, Minnesota, Leona Olson of Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Irene Erickson of Morris, Minnesota; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; one brother, Hartford; and one sister, Alice Zietlow.
