Obituary

Elden Appelwick November 4, 1926 ~ February 4, 2016 Elden Appelwick, of rural Minneota, died February 4, 2016, at his home at the age of 89. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Swede Home Lutheran Church in rural Minneota with Rev. David Peterson officiating. Interment will be at Israel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Elden Nordeen Appelwick was born November 4, 1926, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Hilmer and Myrtle (Anderson) Appelwick. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1944. Elden served in the U.S. Army in Alaska during World War II. He was united in marriage with Eleanor Stone March 24, 1951, at Westerheim Icelandic Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm in Swede Prairie Township and raised three girls. Elden worked at the ASCS office in Clarkfield and was a Pioneer and Garst Seed Salesman. He enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins, was very social and loved to attend auctions. He is survived by his wife Eleanor of Minneota; three daughters: Dianne O'Konski of Lakeville, MN, Sharon Sauer of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Shirley Appelwick of Hopkins, MN; three grandchildren: Georgia, Josephine, and Henry Brott; an aunt, Cecil Berg of Naperville, IL; and a sister-in-law, Lois Appelwick of Granite Falls, MN. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son-in-law, Greg O'Konski; and a brother, Hilding Appelwick.
