Elda Kopitzke April 24th, 1920 ~ April 4th, 2017 Elda Kopitzke, of Clarkfield died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 96. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Omro with Rev. Allen Lonnquist officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Elda O. (Piipke) Kopitzke was born on April 24, 1920, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County to Henry and Lena (Galow) Piipke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church Omro. She attended country school until the 8th grade. On June 21, 1939, Elda married John Haas. They had one son together, Delmar. John died in a hunting accident and later, Delmar would die as a young boy of polio. Elda married Edmund Kopitzke on March 10, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church Omro. Elda was a housewife and lived all her life in Omro and Clarkfield area. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, baking and art projects. She was well known for growing and caring for African violets. Elda was a life long member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Omro and was involved in the ladies group and choir. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. She liked to play cards, pinochle and bingo. Elda is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John and husband, Edmund; her son, Delmar; her brothers: Walter, Elmer, Ted and Benny Piipke and sisters: Leona Phillips and Agnes Warner.
