Elaster "Lester" Moen was born October 20, 1902, in Clarkfield, Minnesota, the son of Thorvald and Emilie (Monson) Moen. He was baptized, confirmed and was a lifetime member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and graduated from Clarkfield High School. As a young man he participated in the Clarkfield Community Band and played on the Clarkfield Town Baseball Team. On June 27, 1954, he married Stella Lee. He farmed on the northeast edge of Clarkfield until he retired. During his retirement he lived in Clarkfield and Montevideo, Minnesota, and especially enjoyed woodworking and was an avid reader. He loved flowers and was a keen observer of nature. He passed away at Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo on June 30, 1989, at the age of 86. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Thorvald and Emilie; his stepmother, Caroline Moen; his wife, Stella; and two sisters, Myrtle Maursetter and Hester Boss. He is survived by one sister, Eleanor Maursetter of Montevideo; and nieces and nephews.
