Effie L. Risa, 80, of Boyd, Minnesota, died Friday, March 14, 1986, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia, Minnesota. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 1986, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd with Pastor Jeff Swanson officiating. The organist was Minnie Hermanson and soloist was Debbie Rath. Casket Bearers were Kaye Christensen, Robert Harms, Art Jorgenson, Gary Just, Hilman Korstad and Ronald Risa. Final Resting Place is the Hazel Run Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hazel Run, Minnesota. She was born May 21, 1905, on a farm south of Boyd to Elias and Helena (Brekke) Jorgenson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and spent most of her life in Boyd with the exception of a few years in Hanley Falls and Hazel Run. She married Leslie Johnson in 1938 and they had two children, Helene and Edward. Leslie passed away in August of 1960. She married Elmer Risa in 1964 and they resided in the Hazel Run community. When Elmer passed away in July of 1977, Effie resided in Clarkfield, Minnesota for some time and then moved back to Boyd where she lived until her death. Effie had suffered several heart attacks the past year. She has been in failing health for some time. She is survived by children Helen Davidson of Hector, Minnesota, and Edward Johnson and daughter-in-law Jill of Walcott, North Dakota; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister Thelma Kise of Boyd.
